John W. Schmitt was born in Muscatine, Iowa. He is the oldest son of a Baptist minister. When John was ten years old the family moved to Klamath Falls, Oregon where they lived for the remainder of his growing up years.

It was during this time that John committed his life to Jesus Christ. Through Sunday School and other youth programs, he became convinced that God wanted to use all of a person’s talents which then would include his model-making ability. Through the years, he has used his talents to build displays for churches and various agencies.

After graduation from high school, John attended Judson Baptist College (a junior college) and then Southern Oregon College where he received his degree in Business Administration. He attended Western Baptist Seminary, receiving a Master of Divinity degree in 1972. While in seminary, John began the study that eventually led to the construction of a model of Ezekiel’s Messianic Temple.

After seminary, John spent the next four and one half years organizing and pastoring two new churches, Calvary Baptist Church in Covelo, California, and Faith Baptist Church in Alturas, California.

John Schmitt has been a serious student of the Jerusalem Temple for over 35 years. He is presently the Executive Director of Future Hope Ministries. His duties have taken him to Israel numerous times where he has conferred with rabbis working to prepare for the future temple.

John is an authority on the Jerusalem Temple and has been featured on national television with Zola Levitt Presents and Day of Discovery. He has conducted seminars and given presentations throughout the United States, Europe and Israel.

John and his wife, Laury, live in Portland, Oregon and have two grown daughters.
